What Is BPC-157?
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide consisting of 15 amino acids. It was developed from a sequence associated with a peptide found in gastric juice and has attracted significant interest because of findings reported in laboratory and animal research.
Research involving BPC-157 has explored areas including gastrointestinal tissues, inflammatory signaling, blood-vessel formation, connective tissue, and tissue-repair processes. However, much of the published evidence is preclinical, and substantially less human clinical evidence is available.
BPC-157 is not an FDA-approved drug. Freedom Compounding Pharmacy does not sell research-use-only peptides and does not currently compound BPC-157. We do carry select commercially manufactured BPC-157 products, which are discussed separately from prescription compounding.
What Has BPC-157 Been Studied For?
BPC-157 has been investigated primarily in laboratory and animal studies across several areas of biology. Research has examined gastrointestinal tissue, inflammatory processes, blood-vessel signaling, connective tissue, muscle and tendon injury, and mechanisms involved in tissue repair.
These findings have generated substantial interest in BPC-157, but preclinical findings do not establish that the same effects occur in humans. Human clinical evidence remains limited compared with many established medications and therapies.
When evaluating BPC-157, it is important to distinguish promising experimental findings from demonstrated clinical benefits in people.
